A great honour for the Swiss Sailing Team: Maud Jayet in the ILCA 6, together with Sébastien Schneiter and Arno de Planta in the 49er, are the very first athletes to be definitively selected by Swiss Olympic for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
Ralph Stöckli, Chef de Mission of Swiss Olympic, said: “The silver medals at the World Championships, and now this very early selection for the Olympic Games, are a great victory for Swiss sailing.” According to him, making the first selections of an Olympic campaign is always a special moment for the delegation’s management. “With these selections, Switzerland’s participation in the Olympic Games suddenly becomes much more real.”
Thanks to their silver medals at the World Championships in The Hague, Maud Jayet and Schneiter/de Planta not only secured a quota place for Switzerland in their respective classes, they also met the personal criteria for early selection. They can now focus fully on the Olympic regattas in Marseille.
