World Championship silver for the second year in a row!

Maud Jayet won the silver medal in the ILCA 6 at the Olympic-class World Championships in The Hague. After a difficult start to the regatta, she built up momentum and did not let a penalty in the final Medal Race unsettle her. She finished second, behind Hungary’s Maria Erdi and ahead of Denmark’s Anne-Marie Rindom, Olympic champion and two-time world champion. The sailor from Vaud thus defended her 2022 world silver and confirmed that she is a medal contender for the 2024 Olympic Games. “Not managing to hold the lead in the Medal Race is a bit of a disappointment. But I know that with a little hindsight, I will be very happy with this silver medal.”

Her coach Mikael Lundh was also delighted: “I am very proud of this result. It was no easy task. This silver medal is fantastic, even if at first it is a small disappointment for Maud,” he said, before looking ahead: “We will keep working hard – we are on the right track.”
