My name is Maud Jayet, a Swiss sailor competing in the ILCA 6, the women’s Olympic single-handed dinghy. I live in Lutry, on the shores of Lake Geneva, in the canton of Vaud.

From the Optimist to the Olympic Games

It all started when I was 7, on the lake, in an Optimist. That little training boat taught me the basics: feeling the wind, reading the water and, above all, loving competition. Sailing very quickly became much more than a hobby.

I then moved on to the ILCA, the Olympic single-handed dinghy. It is a demanding boat, both physically and tactically, and I gradually worked my way up from national regattas to World Cups and World Championships.

That path took me to the Olympic Games twice: first in Tokyo, then in Paris 2024, where I finished 4th, just one step away from the podium. Today my goal is clear: to win an Olympic medal in Los Angeles in 2028.

Career highlights

  • 2024 – 4th at the Paris Olympic Games (Marseille) and 4th at the World Championships (Mar del Plata, ARG)
  • 2023 – World Championship silver (The Hague, NED), 3rd in the world rankings, among the very first athletes selected by Swiss Olympic for Paris 2024
  • 2022 – World Championship silver (Kemah, USA) and European Championship silver (Hyères, FRA)
  • 2021 – First Olympic Games in Tokyo
  • 2018–2020 – First top-10 results at World Championships and a World Cup podium (3rd in Genoa, 2019)

Beyond the dinghy

Alongside my Olympic campaign, I also sail with the Swiss SailGP team, the international championship of foiling F50 catamarans. It is a unique experience that brings speed, intensity and a different perspective on performance.

I also hold a master’s degree, earned in Lausanne after studying law and economics alongside elite sport.

Heading for LA 2028

After a well-deserved break, I am back on the water with fresh energy. First major event: the World Championships in Fortaleza (BRA) in January, where I will aim to qualify Switzerland for the Los Angeles Games.
