My name is Maud Jayet, I’m 20 years-old and I’m a passionate sailor whose objective is to go to the Olympic games in Laser Radial for Switzerland.
I started sailing when I was 7, at summer camp at the Club Nautique of Pully, near Lausanne, Switzerland. From summer camp, I moved on to the Optimist Sailing school, and very soon joined the competition team of my Club. I progressively went from participating in Regattas around Lac Geneva, then all over Switzerland and finally in Europe.
My breakthrough came when I qualified myself to go to the Optimist World Championships in Langkawi in Malaysia at age 14.
Since then, sailing has become a central part of my life, keeping me busy more then 150 days per year. It’s also a way of living: I’m always on the move, visiting new places and meeting other sailors from all over the world. Each new location is a challenge: understanding the wind patterns, mastering the wave configuration and the tides.
Since age 15, I sail in Laser and am part of the Swiss Sailing Team. I achieved pretty good results in 2016, prompting Swiss Sailing Team to promote me to the A-Kader thanks to my 12th place at Senior Europeans and 7th place at the Hyères Sailing Worldcup. My eyes are now set on Tokyo 2020 where I hope to achieve my biggest dream and win a medal.
Thank you for encouraging me by following me on my journey.
